Creighton RCMP are planning more initiatives now that the detachment is again fully staffed.

Sgt. Mark Svaren says the detachment’s newest officer arrived last week, bringing the strength back up to six members.

“Our resourcing shortage is now over,” Svaren told Creighton town council last week.

Svaren said the detachment now intends to restore proactive endeavours that were put on the back burner for staffing reasons.

Requests

In meeting with council last week, Svaren asked how to handle requests for donations for community-based events now that the Community Policing Board has disbanded.

Mayor Bruce Fidler said Svaren could discuss requests with council or send donation-seekers to the town office.

“Between the two of us, we’ll handle it,” Fidler said.
