Playground upgrades in Creighton and a new dock in Denare Beach are among the projects receiving funding from a new federal government program.
Through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, the Creighton School Division will receive $28,538 to revitalize the Creighton Community School playground.
The program will also award $5,650 to the Northern Village of Denare Beach for the purchase of a new dock at the main beach next year.
Rob Clarke, MP for Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River, announced the funding last Friday, July 31. Combined, a dozen projects across Saskatchewan will receive more than $315,000 in support.
“Our investment in community infrastructure is part of our government’s plan to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation and it will help preserve valuable community and cultural spaces and buildings,” Clarke said in a news release. “With our support, communities right across the West are benefiting from improved community infrastructure.”
The Canada 150 program “represents one of several infrastructure-related initiatives that the Government of Canada has undertaken to generate well-being and prosperity across Canada,” read a release from Clarke’s office.
Other Saskatchewan projects receiving support include a revamped sports field in Air Ronge, cemetery improvements in Canwood, and a park and curling rink upgrade in Shell Lake.
