Highlights from Creighton town council’s Nov. 26 meeting:
• Council voted to lobby Industry Canada for improved high-speed Internet in the community. “It’s all wonky,” said Ald. Darren Grant, referring to the current service.
• Council was to hold a preliminary meeting to review the Creighton Sportex Assessment Study. No details were available as of press time.
• Unable to supply volunteers to adopt a kettle for a day, council instead decided to donate $100 to the Salvation Army’s Christmas kettle campaign.
• It was announced that the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) will renew its lease at the Town of Creighton office building for $530 a month. NWMO is helping the community learn more about the long-term possibility of storing nuclear waste near the town.
