Creighton exempt as Sask moves to privatize dozens of liquor stores

The Saskatchewan government is moving ahead with plans to privatize 40 government-owned liquor stores.

The Saskatchewan government is moving ahead with plans to privatize 40 government-owned liquor stores.

This week the government introduced The Liquor Retail Modernization Act, 2016, which it says will help create a level playing field for all liquor retailers in the province.

“Saskatchewan’s current retail liquor system is an uneven playing field that does not put the consumer first,” Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) Don McMorris said.
Creighton’s government-owned liquor store is not among those being privatized.
