Creighton RCMP were less busy this past December than they’ve been in previous years.

Over the month of December, Creighton RCMP responded to 76 total calls, with most coming from within Creighton itself. Out of the 76 calls, 46 came from the detachment’s largest community – a decrease of nearly 50 per cent over last year’s statistics.

One assault was reported to police when a person was attacked by their roommate. The complainant did not press charges in the incident. Nine mischief calls, mostly involving intoxication, were called in. One of the mischief calls came from inside the house for RCMP – a prisoner at the Creighton detachment’s cells damaged the cell block while in custody. That decision ended with additional charges for the wannabe vandal.

Another mischief call involved intoxicated person damaging a hotel room. Charges weren’t filed, but the hotel dealt with the situation. Yet another mischief offence included a person found stuck in a truck “likely in an attempt to steal it,” according to the detachment’s monthly report.

Twenty-eight calls came from the Denare Beach area, nearly one call per day. One sudden death was reported to police after a male passed away at his home. Three assault calls were reported, including a domestic violence offence that ended with charges.

Both of the other assault calls involved intoxication. One involved a number of intoxicated people starting a fight, but police were unable to determine what happened. The remaining call involved an intoxicated woman fighting with her mother, sister and boyfriend. Charges were laid in the situation.

A single break-and enter was reported, along with other offences including disturbing the peace and liquor offences.

A pair of calls came in from Sturgeon Landing, including one assault report - a confrontation between residents of two houses “that seem to not be able to get along,” according to the report. The other report was a call under the Mental Health Act.
