Discussions for a bus shelter in southwest Creighton have yet to be completed, but more details about the potential project are coming forward.
As of the Feb. 13 Creighton town council meeting, the plan for a bus shelter near the corner of Creighton Avenue and Blanchard Street is currently under review by the town’s protective services committee. It is not likely a shelter will be built before the end of winter, but a quick approval may lead to construction starting this spring.
If plans for a bus shelter advance, shop students at Creighton Community School would build the shelter, working under the supervision of school instructors.
Property taxes
A new list of properties in-arrears was approved by town council’s bylaws, resolutions, policy and fiscal services committee. The list includes 21 properties, almost exclusively residential, with arrears totalling more than $25,000.
When asked how the number of properties on the list compared with previous years, chief administrative officer Paula Muench said the total was higher than normal.
“They have 60 days to pay it. If they do not pay, then we put a tax lien on the property,” she said.
“Overall, our tax collection is excellent.”
“This is sort of a first warning,” added councillor Kory Eastman.
Donations
Town council chose to make donations to a pair of upcoming events.
Councillors supported a $1,000 donation to April’s annual general meeting of the Hudson Bay Route Association (HBRA) in Flin Flon. Town council also renewed their membership in the group for $100.
Council members also voted to contribute $100 to the Flin Flon Ski Club’s upcoming provincial race.
