Submitted by Flin Flon Credit Union At the Flin Flon Credit Union's annual general meeting held April 20, President Rod Gourlay informed members that the credit union is undertaking a study during 2011 to determine if it should complete a major renovation of its existing building or perhaps move to a new location. The study is expected to be completed later this year, and members will be advised of the board's decision by year-end. Gourlay went on to say, "As you may know, your credit union has been operating out of its present location for the past 50 years. For all those years, the building has served us well and with some periodic renovations, we've managed to continue to grow and prosper in our location. "We're at a point now where we feel, in order for the credit union to continue to grow, we need to address the limitations of our current building. Our review will include an assessment of how we might be able to reconfigure our present location versus an assessment of purchasing or building new premises at an alternate location. Early 2012 "We expect to complete our review by the end of this year, with the intention that whatever option is chosen can be started in early 2012." The Flin Flon Credit Union intends to conduct a formal membership survey in an effort to determine members' preferences regarding services and location. A target sample of members will be receiving one of our survey forms in the mail. The credit union asks that if you receive a survey form, please be kind enough to complete it and return it to us at the branch or in the self-addressed stamped envelope included. If a member does not receive a survey in the mail and wishes to participate and have their opinions heard, we will have a supply of survey forms in the branch for pick-up. We will also be sending out a number of similar survey forms to non-members as we attempt to determine the primary enhancements and services that might encourage others to begin to deal with the local credit union. Any inquiries may be directed to the general manager, Kory Eastman, at 687-6620 during regular business hours.
