COVID-19 cases continue to grow in Manitoba - but not in the north.
Manitoba reported 37 new cases of COVID-19 Sept. 24, along with news of another person having died of the disease in the province - the person, a female in her 90s, was infected as part of an outbreak at the Parkview Place personal care home.
Of the 37 new cases, 30 cases were reported within Winnipeg. The province has 449 people who currently have COVID-19, with most of the cases still active in Winnipeg. Of the cases currently active in the province, 364 of the cases are in the provincial capital. There are no active cases of COVID-19 in northern Manitoba - one new case reported Sept. 23 was taken off the provincial count.
Another case has been reported in a person at a Winnipeg school - someone who attended Grant Park High School from Sept. 15-17 has tested positive.
Eleven Manitobans remain in hospital with COVID-19, with six people remaining in intensive care.
In Saskatchewan, the province saw a net drop in total active cases, reporting five new cases but also reporting eight recoveries of the disease. The new cases were found in Saskatoon (two), the central west and south central zones and Regina (one each). Eight people are now hospitalized with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, with none in intensive care.
