New cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba are beginning to tail off ahead of Labour Day weekend, staying in single digits for the first time in days Friday.

Nine new cases were reported Sept. 4, with six cases in Winnipeg, two in Southern Health-Sante Sud and one in Prairie Mountain Health. Manitoba is reporting 422 active cases of COVID-19, with 11 people in hospital and one in intensive care.

While several recent cases in Southern Health-Sante Sud have been tied to the Bethesda Place seniors' facility, neither of the two new cases found in the region Friday appear connected to the home, according to provincial health officials. No new possible public exposures to COVID-19 were reported by the province.

No active cases of COVID-19 are being tracked in the Northern Health Region. A total of 1,273 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Manitoba since the pandemic began.

Saskatchewan announced four new cases and four new recoveries, keeping the province's active case load at 36 people. One new case was reported in each of the north central, central west, south west and south central regions. Only one active COVID-19 case remains in far north Saskatchewan.

Three Saskatchewanians are in hospital with COVID-19, with one in intensive care. The province has reported a total of 1,638 cases of COVID-19 during the outbreak.
