Two men charged in connection with a sophisticated marijuana grow operation in Snow Lake will have their day in court. The men, aged 34 and 52, are slated to appear in Provincial Court in Cranberry Portage on March 8. In November, Snow Lake RCMP, with the assistance of the Department of Natural Resources and police in The Pas and Wabowden, executed a search warrant at a Berry Bay residence in Snow Lake. They were surprised to find a sophisticated operation that included two rooms containing 138 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Based on the growth potential of the plants and the cost of the elaborate equipment, police valued the seizure at well over $125,000. The 34-year-old man faces several charges stemming from the operation, including possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and production of a controlled substance. The 52-year-old man has been charged with producing a controlled substance. Police said at the time of the bust that there was no evidence to suggest the operation was supplying pot to people outside of Snow Lake.
