Saskatchewan youth aged 14 and 15 looking for a summer job are reminded that they must complete Saskatchewan's Young Worker Readiness Certificate Course to secure employment. The mandatory job readiness course teaches youth about their rights and responsibilities as it relates to health, safety and labour standards in the workplace. While young workers are able to apply for jobs and go for interviews before completing the certificate, they must provide a copy of the completed certificate to their employer on or before their first day of work. All 14- and 15 year-olds must also have the consent of their parent or guardian in order to work. The course can be taken online at www.lrws.gov.sk.ca/ ywrcc. You can also learn more about it at 1-800-667-1783.
