Canadian country music star Brad Johner will be performing at the Creighton Sportex on Saturday, May 15 to help raise funds for Creighton Recreation & Parks. A veteran of the Canadian country music stage, Brad Johner formed one of the most successful country music duos to ever hit Canada. Over the '90s, The Johner Brothers released four albums which yielded more than two dozen singles to radio, many of which captured Top 20 status. Their success resulted in considerable national attention, including three Juno nominations and two Canadian Country Music Association wins, while provincially they earned three dozen Saskatchewan Country Music Association awards. Winning awards with such frequency, the Johners were rightfully awarded a SCMA for "Entertainers of the Decade". Following up on this phenomenal success, Brad Johner went out on his own in 2002 with the release of his critically acclaimed debut solo album, Free. Top charting singles and videos from the album resulted in early recognition for Brad, including a 2003 Western Canada Music award for "Outstanding Country Album" and 2003 CCMA nominations for "Album of the Year" and SOCAN "Song of the Year". Brad is touring Canada in support of the album and is also using the occasion to raise money for charity organizations through concert ticket proceeds. Creighton Recreation & Parks will be the beneficiaries of Johner's concert Son May 15. Concert time is 8:00 p.m. at the Creighton Sportex. For tickets or information contact Cindy at 688-8254.
