Two of Canadian country music's brightest stars will shine at the R.H. Channing Auditorium next month. Beverley Mahood and Gil Grand, both of whom appear regularly on CMT, will share their talents with local music fans at a concert on Tuesday, March 16. "It's an exciting opportunity to be able to bring top-quality performers to our community," said Brenda Russell, director of Flin Flon Parks and Recreation, one of the sponsors. "It will be great family entertainment or an evening out for people young and old." Since Mahood's last Flin Flon performance in 1998, she has continued to make a name for herself and build a solid fan base coast-to-coast. The blonde songstress has been named CMT Artist of the Year, had nine Top Ten Videos on CMT, and performed with the popular country trio Lace. Grand's resume is also impressive. The lanky Ontario native was nominated for the Canadian Country Music Album of the Year Award in 1999 for his debut work, Famous First Words. His latest album, Burnin', has sold well and gained no shortage of radio play. "I think they bring an element of popularity and success that should make for a very entertaining evening," commented Russell. About 500 tickets for next month's concert go on sale tomorrow. Advance tickets will be available at Northern Rainbow's End. Tickets will also be available at the door. "The more support that the community gives to concerts like this, the better the chance we will keep getting them," said Russell.
