The call has gone out to fill an empty seat on Snow Lake town council.
A byelection will be held later this year for the spot. Three separate calls for nominations will take place on March 5, 8 and 11 at the Snow Lake town office, seeking a candidate to fill the seat left vacant by the departure of now-former councillor Andrew Smith.
Council hopefuls are asked to file nomination papers at the town office. The nomination deadline for the byelection is March 11 at 3 p.m. All candidates are asked to have a nomination signed – either by at least 25 eligible voters or at least one per cent of eligible voters – and a declaration of qualifications.
Voters must be Canadian citizens over 18 years old and must have been residents of or owned land in Snow Lake for at least six months as of election day. Two non-resident property owners per property are allowed to vote, with written consent of a majority of registered landowners filed with the town’s senior election official.
