Continued from pg. 8 Also causing a bit of controversy in the community is the fact that the town emptied and garbaged recyclable material from a temporary building that was being used in place of the community's recently closed recycle centre. Local people had been depositing recyclable material there since early June, with the expectation that it would be sent to markets as it had when they were depositing it in the former permanent structure. However, most of the stuff that was placed in this temporary building went straight into the dump. Precourt said it was because the materials had been contaminated with garbage. On a related note, the town no longer has any structure to store this type of material; it is deposited directly into dedicated recycling trailers and when full, they are hauled to the recycling centre in The Pas. Milestone On a closing note, a number of milestone anniversaries have either been celebrated or acknowledged of late. On the evening of July 31, friends and family of Clarence and Norma Johnson gathered in the Snow Lake Elks Hall, where they toasted the couple, helping them celebrate their 60th anniversary. A fantastic roast beef supper and an evening of dancing and socializing was apparently enjoyed by all! Additionally, Orville and Janice Becking will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Aug. 28 and Jack and Mona Forsyth's 50th will be celebrated with a come and go tea on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 1-3 p.m. at the Elks Hall. My Take on Snow Lake runs Fridays.
