The Flin Flon School Division and its teachers are headed for arbitration after failing to find common ground at the bargaining table last week. At Tuesday's school board meeting, Trustee Murray Skeavington announced that both sides will go to arbitration at a later date. Trustee Skeavington, who chairs the division's Manitoba Teachers Society Negotiations Committee, said the latest contract talks took place last Thursday. The teachers are currently working under a contract that expired last summer. There is no fear of a work stoppage, as Manitoba teachers do not have the right to strike. Teachers within the Flin Flon School Division are represented by the Flin Flon Teachers' Association.
