The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #232 and the Royal Purple of Canada #45 Addictions Awareness - Essay, Poster and Video Contest is being held again this year. To assure your entry qualifies, please follow rules closely. Local (Flin Flon and area - including Saskatchewan schools) will be provided prizes as follows: Posters: Grades K-3 (Primary) - first $15, second $10, third $5; grades 4-6 (Junior) - first $20, second $15, third $10; grades 7-9 (Intermediate) - first $20, second $15, third $10; grades 10-12 (Senior) - first $20, second $15, third $10. Essays: Grades 7-9 (Intermediate) - first $20, second $15, third $10; grades 10-12 (Senior) - first $25, second $15, third $10; Videos: Grades 7-9 (Intermediate) - first $20, second $15, third $10; grades 10-12 (Seniors) - first $25, second $15, third $10. All entries must be forwarded to your teacher (if done as a class participant) or sent to Royal Purple of Canada #45, Box 38, Flin Flon, Manitoba R8A 1M6 to be received no later than January 17, 2005. All entries, which follow the rules (as outlined in the brochure) will be considered on a local basis. Following that the first, second and third prize winner from each category will be forwarded to the provincial level and the first, second and third winner from the provincial level will be forwarded to the national level. The first place prize winner (from the Senior Essay category) will be awarded $1000 in scholarship money (other provincial and national prizes will also be awarded). In the past we have had a national winner, proving again that small communities can make a difference.
