A frustrated group of residents wants Flin Flon City Council to do something about an abandoned home in their neighbourhood they say has become a haven for trespassers. Council has received a letter, signed by nine residents in the vicinity of 14 Churchill St., stating that people are frequently breaking into the derelict house. "We are continually calling the RCMP to remove people who break into 14 Churchill, are drinking, fighting, etcetera, from that home," reads the letter. "I'm sure the RCMP (are) getting fed up with our calls." The letter expressed concern that a child might enter the house and get hurt without anyone knowing. There's also a problem next door at 12 Churchill St., the residents wrote, noting that the derelict home emits a foul smell, has old clothes in the porch and was recently the target of vandals who broke most of the windows. Municipal Administrator Larry Fancy expects the City will probably board up the homes and charge the owners with the expenses. "Chances are, we'll acquire the houses through tax sale," he said. Council referred the letter to the Engineering Services Committee for further review.
