Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall on Monday expressed condolences to the family and friends of former Official Opposition Leader Dick Collver, who died earlier this month at the age of 78.
“Dick Collver was a strong conservative voice who led the PC Party from zero seats when he became Leader to Official Opposition status in the Legislature,” Wall said in a statement. “Although he had not lived in Saskatchewan for many years, he certainly made a huge impact on Saskatchewan politics in the 1970s.”
Collver took over the leadership of the now-defunct Saskatchewan PC Party in 1973, leading the party to Official Opposition status in 1978 but stepping down shortly after the election.
Collver was living in Thailand at the time of his passing.
