Further to the Jan. 30 article “School board okays NWMO talks,” The Reminder wishes to issue a clarification.
Although the article did not state that the school board had asked NWMO to speak in Flin Flon high schools, it has been brought to the attention of the editor that some readers may be interpreting this to be the sequence of events.
In fact, a member of the Community Liaison Committee (CLC), which forms a bridge between the public and NWMO, suggested the idea to a school division representative – not a board representative, as stated in the article.
When it was brought to the board, trustees voted 6-1 to allow NWMO to speak at high schools but stipulated that opponents of NWMO would also be allowed to speak.
