Scheduled flights between Flin Flon and Saskatoon took off Monday as Missinippi Air began offering thrice-weekly service between the two communities. A celebratory inaugural flight took place last Friday, Feb. 27.

“The City of Flin Flon sees the expansion of Missinippi Air as [offering] better access to the west for freight, business, health and recreational passenger travel,” said Flin Flon city councillor Leslie Beck, who was on the flight.

Beck added that the city wants to see increased use of the airport to keep it viable.

Missinippi is offering the flights on a trial basis and will reevaluate their viability after three months.

Pukatawagan-based Mathias Colomb Cree Nation owns the small airline.
