Contrary to rumours, the City of Flin Flon says it continues to employ an officer to ensure downtown parking time limits are respected.
City council made the statement last week in response to a question from The Reminder.
The officer works staggered hours so it is never apparent to the public when he will be on shift. He writes tickets when he finds that a vehicle has exceeded its allotted time in a spot.
There had been rumours the city had dismissed the officer, whose purpose is to help ensure a flow of traffic uptown.
Main Street business owners fought to have the city establish the officer’s position, citing instances of motorists taking up valuable parking spots for many hours at a time.
