Bill Fulford may not have the most high-profile position within the City of Flin Flon , but he certainly has one of the most important. City council on Tuesday welcomed Fulford as the new municipal workplace health and safety contractor.

Bill Fulford may not have the most high-profile position within the City of Flin Flon, but he certainly has one of the most important.

City council on Tuesday welcomed Fulford as the new municipal workplace health and safety contractor.

“I look forward to the challenge,” Fulford told council.

Referencing the city’s current workplace health and safety structure, Fulford said “there’s lots there” but “some gaps” exist.

Chief Administrative Officer Mark Kolt said that in addition to reviewing safety plans, Fulford has been meeting city managers and employees.

“It’s been great having him aboard,” added Kolt.

A Flin Flon resident, Fulford brings 20 years of workplace health and safety experience to his position.

He had been retired but told council he was ready to take on a new project.

Fulford is expected to work an average of 20 hours a week for 45 weeks, from Feb. 18 to Dec. 31.

Council approved his hiring last month.
