Christmas spirit filled the R.H. Channing Auditorium yesterday as local musicians delighted a packed house with vibrant holiday harmonies. It was the Flin Flon Arts Council's presentation of The Spirit of Christmas. "What a perfect Christmas present," exclaimed one crowd member. The concert blended the talents of eight groups of performers who sang both familiar holiday tunes and some that weren't so routine. Choirs from Hapnot, McIsaac and Creighton schools amazed the crowd with their musical aptness, as did The Coppertones children's choir. Borealis, a group that prides itself on exploring a wide range of choral repertoire, delighted the audience with the work of Mel Torme and Robert Wells, as well as a piece from the 15th century. The Flin Flon Community Choir helped cap off the performance with old favourites like The Little Drummer Boy and Do You Hear What I Hear?. Adding something different were theatre troupe Ham Sandwich, which performed a well-received skit, and Pam's Steppers, a step dancing group from Ottawa. The Spirit of Christmas concert was performed twice over the weekend: Saturday evening and yesterday afternoon.
