On May 7, 8 and 9 the Flin Flon Community Choir will perform the critically acclaimed musical "Follies". This James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim musical from the 1970s promises to be another fabulous extravaganza with stage and choreographic direction from Brad McDougall and music direction by Crystal Kolt. This six-time Tony Award winning show is set inside a Broadway theatre which once belonged to Dimitri Weissman, a Ziegfield like producer whose Weissman follies set the standard for Broadway glamour and excitement. Before the theatre is torn down he holds one last reunion for his now retired performers and showgirls. This is a show where past and present collide, as ghosts of the showgirls' beautiful selves share the stage with their current reality. See 'Presentation' P.# Con't from P.# Crystal, the choir's producer, is delighted to have Brad McDougall on board for this production. Brad studied dance in London and was dance captain for the London West End production of "Follies" (1987-89). Every aspect of our presentation has benefitted from McDougall's intimate knowledge of professional production values, and set decoration, costumes, sound and lights will be as glamourous as benefits this most lavish of Broadway musicals. The Flin Flon Community Choir is no stranger to large musical theatre shows, having successfully produced other ambitious works such as "Titanic", "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", and Flin Flon's own hometown musical, "Bombertown". "Follies" has four main characters that will be ably portrayed by Community Choir veterans Cindy Fahie, Tim Spencer, Michelle Belfry, and Tom Heine. Crystal is also thrilled to have former Glee Club members Dorothy Liss and Joyce Bongfeldt in cameo roles. Other cameo performers include John and Gabby Taylor, Penny Grove, Susan Lethbridge, and Terry Pshebnicki. Tickets for "Follies" will go on sale at Northern Rainbow's End from March 20.
