Jonathon Naylor Editor Charges have been laid following a weekend murder in Thompson. Shane Corson Braun, 25, of Thompson, has been charged with second-degree murder in the Dec. 30 slaying of Jarod Jensen, 27, of St. Andrews. The Thompson RCMP were dispatched to a residence in the Eastwood area of Thompson at about 5:45 p.m. that day. Inside they found Jensen injured and unresponsive. He was transported to Thompson General Hospital, were he later succumbed to his injuries. Police said the accused and the victim were known to each other. An autopsy was conducted on Dec. 31, but the cause of death had yet to be determined Wednesday pending further investigation by the Chief Medical Examiner's Office. It was Thompson's third homicide of 2012. Earlier in the year, Miranda Faith Canabie, 25, of Thompson, was charged with second-degree murder in the June 27 Princeton Drive slaying of Glen Martin Ross, 50, who died in Thompson General Hospital after being stabbed. Also, Jacqueline Brightnose, 18, was charged with manslaughter in connection with the May 30 killing of her father, Allan David Pronteau, 42, at 15 Duke Place in the Eastwood area. It has also been a troubling year and a half in the much smaller Flin Flon, where homicides occurred in November of 2011 and May of 2012. There was also an attempted murder here in November 2011. _ with files from John Barker, Thompson Citizen
