Creighton RCMP laid 11 charges and impounded three vehicles Monday during a check stop on the Hanson Lake Road. The charges included possession of under 30 grams of marijuana and impaired driving. An outstanding warrant was also executed. Police stopped approximately 200 vehicles during the 16-hour check stop, receiving assistance from the Prince Albert Highway Patrol, Saskatchewan Environment, and the Saskatchewan Interdiction Team. Several inspection tickets and written warnings were handed out for a variety of reasons, including signal lights in need of repair, failure to provide license and registration, and cracked windows. As well, a number of anglers were stopped to have their boats inspected to ensure they had not fished above their limit. Creighton RCMP called the check stop a success and felt that working with the other agencies was educational and enlightening.10/6/04
