The Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce discussed a hodge podge of topics at their executive meeting yesterday, attending by 13 people at the Friendship Centre. Here is a recap: Treasurer Lois (Bunny) Burke reported that there is not yet a guest speaker for the Chamber's fall gala, although she has invited the Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs for Manitoba. The gala is scheduled for October 9 at the R.H. Channing Auditorium. President Dave Kendall noted that the Great Canadian Mint has 7,500 of the 10,000 "Flinty coins" already produced. The coins will be unveiled on the night of the gala. Maureen Kozar mentioned that the Business Builders Association, which was formed under the umbrella of the Chamber, may consider organizing a Christmas parade this year. Kendall said that the Chamber's proposed slate of officers for 2003-04 still has two openings and encouraged any member interested in joining the executive to contact the Chamber office. A motion passed to send thank-you letters to the businesses that donated items to the Chamber's 2003 Radio Auction held over the weekend. Kendall said he was pleased with how the auction went. Kendall noted that Flin Flon Director of Parks and Recreation Brenda Russell is the scheduled guest speaker for the next Chamber meeting, slated for October 7. It was noted that the next Business Builders Association meeting is slated for this Monday, September 29 at the Greenstone Community Futures Development Corporation office above Superior Video. The meeting will get underway at 6 p.m.
