Jonathon Naylor Editor The last Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce executive meeting open to the media was a quiet one. Highlights from the meeting, attended by 14 people at the Friendship Centre Restaurant last Tuesday, April 22: Members reviewed an invitation to attend a meeting of northern Manitoba municipal councils and other organizations. The meeting is slated for the Legion Hall in Cranberry Portage on May 30. Laurel Mackie, a chamber director, said businesses are encouraged to put up decorations to mark Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee in late May. On May 26 and 27, several events will take place locally to celebrate Her Majesty's 60th year on the throne. Members agreed to direct Phill Robinson, another director, to attend an upcoming Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce conference on business. Robinson will only be able to attend the first day. The chamber has secured a $500 grant to help cover his expenses. Karen MacKinnon, the city council representative, suggested more local photos be included on the chamber's website. Past-president Joe Buie, sitting as president in Kory Eastman's absence, suggested The Reminder supply some pictures. A motion carried to spend $115 on a two-inch banner ad in the 2012-13 edition of Service Guide. Published by The Reminder, it's a guide to services in the Flin Flon area. Beginning in May, the chamber will hold only one executive meeting per month, on the first Tuesday, with no media present. There will be two general meetings per month, the second and fourth Tuesdays, with media and guest speakers invited.
