An official flag raising ceremony yesterday morning at City Hall indicated the beginning of Heart and Stroke month. The theme this year is physical fitness. Representing Curves was Susan Petalik and representing the Flin Flon Bombers was Ryan Boak. Also in attendance were Mayor Dennis Ballard, Barbara Corden of the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Fire Chief Jim Petrie, the unofficial flag assembler. The Flin Flon campaign for the Heart and Stroke Foundation began on February 1 and runs through to the 29. Canvassers are needed. If anyone has a few hours to spare, the areas that need to be covered are: Bakers Narrows, Birchview, Hapnot area, Ross Lake and the Uptown area. Last year the volunteer canvassers (75 individuals), raised $6,713 dollars. This year, they are hoping to raise about $6,700. For further information please call 687-8901.
