The R.H. Channing Auditorium will be the place to be New Year's Eve for people looking to ring in 2005 in a family-friendly atmosphere. First Night Out will be a chemical-free event complete with a potluck supper, live entertainment and a balloon drop at midnight. "This is an opportunity for the whole family to come out," said Laurel Mackie of CADAC, which is organizing the event. Entertainment will include recorded music as well as performances from the Nemihitowok Hoop Troop and Pam's Steppers. When the clock strikes midnight, a slew of balloons ? stuffed with coupons good for various prizes ? will drop from the ceiling. "It's a wonderful way to start your new year, celebrating the community," said Mackie. Tickets are available at various locations in Flin Flon and Creighton until Dec. 29. Tickets will not be available at the door. Volunteers are still needed to help. If you would like to lend a hand or want more information, phone 688-8291.12/14/2004
