One out-to-lunch MLA, his assistant, two down-on-their-luck hotel owners, and a herd of reporters had audience members laughing at the Creighton Community School's production of Northwoods Nonsense. The dessert theatre production saw MLA Thurstan Oakley, played by Justin Donaghy, willing to rid the country of beautiful landmarks _ like the crevasses, national parks and wildlife _ but ends up turned around in search for Big Foot. Following a tabloid story, the MLA and his assistant, Ms. Birch _ or was it Bench, as he could never remember _ spent time in the northern parts of Saskatchewan in search of the Sasquatch. A group of reporters were hot on his trail in search of answers on his plans to do away with the landmarks _ even though he was really on the hunt for the mythical creature. A group of tourists were chasing the same creature as Oakley in hopes of proving a great tale. The cast of Northwoods Nonsense was made up of dedicated students willing to put in the hard work to deliver a good show. The cast and crew worked for six weeks on the production as they held opening night last Wednesday, followed by a second show the next night. The actors and actresses served desserts following the show as family members, peers and teachers enjoyed the evening. Northwoods Nonsense received many laughs as reporter Grace Granite, played by Hanne Buettner, was less than on top of her stories. She often found herself out of money and in the wrong part of the country. But her luck turned as she left the media world and became the new MLA _ a perfect fit since she never gave a direct answer and always had stories to change the subject. Challenges Cast members agreed that some of the biggest challenges in the play were learning all the political words as well as their lines. The students, ranging from grade 9 to 12, spent time after school as well as some weekends as they rehearsed for their performance. The cast and crew worked out bumps along the way and performed well before an audience in the gymnasium. The play was directed by Tracy Hovland and Lisa Buettner. The cast was made up of the following students: Carrie Granola _ Paige Walker Mary Granola _ Denae Lagore Pete the Handyman _ Michael Manns MLA Thurstan Oakley _ Jay Donaghy Barry Busch _ Mark Linnick Ms Birch _ Kelcey Andersen Ms Pine _ Brooke Maryniuk Holly Hauk _ Ebony Blouin Grace Grainte _ Hanne Buettner Mr. Pike _ David Loat Mrs. Pike _ Joselyn Tyson Reporters _ Daniel Ratt, Alycia Clarke, Taylor Kryschuk, Bobi Simon Guests _ Roxanne Mousseau, Khariz Kawa, Jeff Jacobson, Olivie Gieg Men in Black _ Sebastian Morin, Kara Lee, Ashley Ross
