The Flin Flon Motorcyclists’ Association continues to help new bikers hit the open road.
FFMA again sponsored cash prizes for students in a motorcycle training course held recently in the parking lot of the former Extra Foods building.
The course, put on by Safety Services Manitoba, is a necessary step for students to obtain their motorcycle licence.
To help out new bikers, and to promote motorcycle safety, FFMA agreed to reimburse the course registration fees of two lucky students.
The names of all students who passed the course were entered into a draw. Winning back his registration cost of $315 was Stan Guimont of The Pas (eight-hour course) while Kim Steinward of Swan River (21-hour course) won her fee of $472.
FFMA has been reimbursing students in the course for about the past six years and, based on feedback from instructors, may be the only motorcycle club in North America to do so.
The recent Safety Services Manitoba course saw all 14 students pass – seven in the eight-hour course and seven in the 21-hour course.
Of interest was the fact that all students in the 21-hour course were women.
