Creighton's Helen Hunter has a goal to establish a supportive housing facility in the local area for people living with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Reaching that objective will take time and hundreds of thousands of dollars, but she is off to a good start. Hunter was thrilled with the response to a recent door-to-door campaign in Creighton and Denare Beach for her non-profit organization, Mitkas-Hunter Hope Foundation Inc. "It went really well. We got an excellent response and an opportunity to meet people who are supporting us in our cause," she commented. Hunter said the majority of people she talked to during the canvass were aware of her goal, having followed her story in the media. Meanwhile, Hunter and volunteers with her foundation will be at the Co-op, the HBMS Main Gate, and on Main Street today collecting donations. She can be reached at 688-8080 for more details about her foundation.
