With the 2016 Manitoba provincial election coming up on Apr. 19, parties are heading out on the campaign trail.
Liberal candidate Leslie Beck will kick off her campaign with an event at the Victoria Inn on Thursday, Feb. 4.
Beck, a Flin Flon city councillor and long-time resident, announced in December that she would run in the Flin Flon constituency under the Liberal banner.
The theme for her campaign is Boots on the Ground: strong voice for Flin Flon.
The event will be held from 3 to 8 pm.
The provincial Conservatives will hold a nomination meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at the Victoria Inn.
Registration will be open from 1 to 7 pm, during which time party members may vote.
There will be a meeting at 7 pm, with guest speaker Cliff Cullen, MLA Spruce Woods and mineral resources critic. Voting will remain open until after speeches.
NDP candidate Tom Lindsey defeated current MLA Clarence Pettersen at a NDP nomination meeting held in December 2015.
At the time, Pettersen said he was considering running as an independent, but has not yet made an announcement of his intentions.
The NDP has held the Flin Flon constituency since 1969.
