Camp Whitney will benefit from a $1,000 donation given in memory of a man who was committed to enhancing the facility. Gloria King has made the donation in honour of the late Brian King, who was the namesake of the popular King Trail at the camp. On Friday, George Fontaine presented the cheque on Gloria's behalf to Brenda Russell, Flin Flon's director of recreation. (pictured) Hundreds of campers, many of them youth, cherish a summer excursion to Camp Whitney each year. The camp is used for a variety of functions, including school field trips, family reunions and outdoor get-togethers. It was operated by community groups up until the late 1970s, when the City of Flin Flon took over operations. Established by HBMS in the 1940s, Camp Whitney can be reached via a 20-minute boat ride from the government dock on Lake Athapap.
