Jonathon Naylor Editor A taxi driver in The Pas was recovering last week after picking up two riders who allegedly stabbed him in a violent robbery. Last Wednesday, Jan. 30, at about 2 a.m., The Pas and OCN RCMP responded to a report of a cab driver being stabbed by unidentified people in his taxi. Police said the driver had picked up four people, two of whom brandished edged weapons when he stopped to drop them off. The men attempted to rob the driver of his wallet, but he was able to disarm one of his attackers and fought back, resulting in one of them getting stabbed. The driver, a 54-year-old man, was airlifted to Winnipeg for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. One of his alleged attackers was treated at The Pas Health Complex. RCMP arrested the alleged attackers, a 19-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from OCN, with aggravated assault and robbery charges pending. Police interviewed and released one woman in connection with the incident, but as of press time were still looking for a second female believed to be a witness.
