The Off Road Vehicle Act contains the provincial by-laws for quads and snowmobiles. Here are some of the offences and fines that quad and snowmobile drivers should be aware of: Fail to register an off road vehicle - fine of $130 Fail to maintain proper insurance - fine of $230 As the owner, permit an unsupervised person under 14 years of age to operate an off road vehicle - fine of $105 Have more passengers than allowed on an off road vehicle - fine of $80 Fail to wear a helmet - fine of $130 Operate an off road vehicle carelessly - To be determined by court Operate an off road directly across a roadway and shoulder without a valid driver's licence - To be determined by court Fail to keep right of roadway and shoulder $80 City by-laws allow for snow machines to use the access snowmobile routes - but do not allow the use of quads on the routes Quads must be trailered out of town to where they will be used. Please keep these laws in mind as you set out on your off road vehicle. As you can see, most of them pertain to personal safety.
