It seems like only yesterday that a friendly Main St. business called Pharmasave opened its doors. But already the pharmacy and retail store is celebrating ten years in Flin Flon, and owner Scott Davidson is grateful to area residents for their support. "Having a business in this community is very rewarding," he says. "People respect the investment you make and appreciate what the business does for the community." It was back in Aug. 1994 that Davidson, a third-generation pharmacist, brought the growing drugstore chain to town. "Pharmasave is an extension of my father Murray's business, the dispensary in the Flin Flon Clinic, which he operated upon moving to Flin Flon in the mid-1950s," says Davidson. There are over 300 Pharmasave locations across Canada, and Davidson is proud to own the only one in Northern Manitoba. "Flin Flon is a great community," he says. "There is a true sense of family within this community. When the community needs to pull together, it is capable of doing so in a big way. Just look at all the successful reunions and major events this community has hosted. They're always top-notch." See 'Involvement' P.# Con't from P.# Known for using his business to support charitable initiatives, Davidson says his parents taught him the importance of community involvement. "My mom and dad were always very active in the community," he says, "from hockey, service clubs, to the arts and church. They always impressed upon their kids to get involved." Davidson credits not only the community, but also his staff, with the ongoing success of his business. "I am very proud of the level of service my staff provide," he says. "I have been very fortunate to attract the quality of staff that I have. From Shonnah Hanson and Gaye Willetts, who have been with me since the beginning, to our newest employees and our past employees, all of them truly care for the business and the people of Flin Flon.
