Flin Flon's public transit system will soon include stops at one of the busiest parts of the city Ñ the Flintoba Shopping Centre. Northern Bus Lines plans to start service to the mall site on July 2, allowing commuters daily access to the three 'big box' stores. "I've been really looking forward to serving my customers better with this access to the mall," said general manager Reg Hiebert. Hiebert began trying to include the site on his route even before Wal-Mart opened but had been unable to secure the necessary permission. Since Wal-Mart opened in November 2002, Hiebert said he has been flooded with requests from commuters, particularly employees of the stores, to expand service to the development. "The demand is there," he said. "Every time I went into those stores, I got asked about it, and I had no control over it." Service to and from the mall site is to run more than 12 hours a day, starting at about 6:30 a.m. and lasting until 7 p.m. Northern Bus Lines has also secured permission to install two new bus stops adjacent to the entrance to the Flin Flon Trailer Court.
