The City of Flin Flon has paved the way for construction of a new uptown facility to bring various existing health care services under one roof. The City has entered into an option agreement with Reset Development, a local company, for construction of a multipurpose health care facility on a portion of the Flin Flon Community Hall parking lot. Provided Reset constructs a building at the site, ownership of the land will be transferred to the developer. If not, the City retains the property. The development would utilize some 10,000 sq. ft. of land at the northwest portion of the parking lot, near where the last Company apartments once stood. Community services such as Public Health, Mental Health, Health Promotion, and the Community Nurse Resource Centre would move into the building, which has a target opening date of November. To make up for the lost parking near the hall, the City has already reached a verbal agreement with HBMS about utilizing vacant Company property north of the hall. The City also optioned additional parking space on nearby North Avenue to the developer.
