Audiences were kind to "Mean Girls" over the weekend, as the new comedy debuted in top spot at the box office. The critically-acclaimed tale of a home-schooled teenage girl, entering public high school for the first time, grossed an estimated $25 million in the United States. Denzel Washington's "Man on Fire" slipped to second place with $15.2 million while "13 going on 30" held onto third with $10 million. In fourth place was Pierce Brosnan's new romantic comedy, "Laws of Attraction," which disappointed with a gross of $7 million. The new thriller "Godsend," starring Robert De Niro, also delivered a less-than-stellar opening weekend, taking in $6.9 million, good for fifth place. Audiences weren't all that eager to see the comedy pairing of Ben Stiller and Jack Black, either, with "Envy" debuting in sixth place with $6.1 million. Rounding out the top ten were "Kill Bill Vol. 2" ($5.8 million); "The Punisher" ($3.4 million); "Home on the Range" ($2.2 million); and "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" ($2.1 million).
