Moviegoers were in the mood to be frightened over the spooky Halloween weekend. "The Grudge," starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as a nurse exposed to a mysterious curse, held onto top spot at the U.S. box office with an estimated gross of $22.4 million. Debuting in second place with $20.1 million was the critically-acclaimed "Ray," starring comedian Jamie Foxx as the late legendary musician Ray Charles. Another horror film, the grisly, low-budget "Saw," opened in third with $17.4 million, prompting early talks of a sequel. The family-friendly computer-animated feature "Shark Tale" continued its strong run with $8 million, good for fourth. The overlooked romantic comedy "Shall We Dance?" rounded out the top five with $6.3 million. Rounding out the top ten were: "Friday Night Lights" ($4.1 million); "Ladder 49" ($3.3 million); "Team America: World Police" ($3.1 million); "Surviving Christmas" $2.6 million; and "Taxi" ($2.2 million).
