Anyone who's ever rolled a bowling ball down the alley knows the satisfaction that comes from hitting a strike. Now bowlers will be able to experience a great feeling regardless of how many pins they knock down. From 1-5 p.m. this Saturday, May 8, Flin Flon Bowling Lanes will host a bowl-a-thon to help raise money for the Kids Help Phone. Bowlers will get to bowl one game free and be eligible for prizes based on their scores and the pledges they have collected. Anyone interested in picking up a pledge form may contact the lanes at 687-6494. Kids Help Phone provides Canada's only toll-free, national telephone counselling and referral services for youth and parents. The line provides immediate support around the clock. Professional, paid counselors with backgrounds in social services provide the service, answering calls and online questions from children responding to a wide range of issues and situations. A private, not-for-profit organization, Kids Help Phone answered calls from nearly 3,000 rural and urban communities across Canada in 2003, including Flin Flon.
