A book exploring prominent views of Manitoba hit the shelves recently, and features the landscapes and architecture of Flin Flon.

Stuck in the Middle 2 is a work by photographer Bryan Scott and journalist Bartley Kives, documenting one of the newest, most Indigenous and largely empty places on Earth.

Among the architecture featured in the book are the former Flin Flon Hotel, the infamous smokestack, and the Oreland Motel overlooking Ross Lake.

“Flin Flon was a revelation to me,” Scott told The Reminder.

“One of the highlights of my journeys through Manitoba, gathering photos for this project. I had done my research and seen plenty of photos of the town, but I was unprepared for the scenic beauty of Flin Flon.”

Scott said that as a life-long Winnipegger, there’s a certain novelty to any type of elevation change within municipal limits, one that he discovered while he explored Flin Flon’s rock outcrops.

“It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind town in this province.”
