Jonathon Naylor Editor Flin Flon's friendly rivalry with The Pas has extended to the literary world. Libraries in the two communities are competing in the 2012 Battle of the Books to see which institution can lend the most books throughout May. 'Help us out, please,' Cindy McLean, administrator of the Flin Flon Public Library, urged the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday. McLean is asking all residents to visit the library to borrow a book, movie, audio book or other available item. As of Tuesday night, with the competition eight days old, The Pas was leading Flin Flon by a significant margin of 1,226 to 790. Whichever library lends the most items will host a customer appreciation barbecue put on by staff from the losing institute. In addition to being the library administrator, McLean is a director with the Chamber of Commerce.
