The Flin Flon Bombers downed the Weyburn Red Wings 3-2 Tuesday night, taking a 2-1 quarterfinal series lead heading into Game 4 Wednesday at the Whitney Forum.
Tyson Empey (Jason Lavallee, Curtis Roach) opened the scoring at 2:36 of the second period. Weyburn ended the second up 2-1.
Flin Flon responded at the 14-second mark of the third period with a power play marker from Brandon Switzer (Joel Kocur, Curtis Roach). Cory Thomas (Greyson Reitmeier, Switzer) potted what turned out to be the game winner at 5:26 of the final frame.
Brenden Newton got the start in net after earning a shutout win in Game 2. Tuesday saw him stop 47 of 49 shots before an announced Whitney Forum crowd of 1,006 fans.
