The Flin Flon Bombers are advancing in the SJHL playoffs after downing the Weyburn Red Wings on Saturday night.
The Bombers beat the Wings 3-1 to win their quarter-final series 4-1. Scoring for Flin Flon were Nick Shumlanski (Adam Wilson, Kristian St. Onge), Brandon Switzer (Alex Smith) and Switzer again (Kocur).
Brenden Newton continued his dominance in the Flin Flon net with his fourth straight victory. An announced crowd of 1,599 fans turned out for the game at Weyburn's Crescent Point Place.
Flin Flon will now face the Battlefords North Stars in the semi-finals. Game dates will be announced.
The North Stars ended their quarter-final series against the Kindersley Klippers with a 3-1 victory Saturday night in North Battleford. That gave Battlefords a 4-1 series win.
Battlefords was the top team in the SJHL during the regular season with 90 points to Flin Flon's 72; however, Bomber fans will note that no team in the league had more success since Dec. 1 than the Bombers.
