Highlights from the Nov. 12 meeting of the Flin Flon school board:
Nomination sought
The board voted to endorse Trustee Murray Skeavington’s bid for a third consecutive year as a regional director with the Manitoba School Boards Association.
“I have enjoyed my last two years on the executive and would like to continue it for the next year,” Skeavington wrote in a letter to his fellow Flin Flon trustees.
Helping seniors
Motions carried to lend the school division’s two minibuses to a pair of community initiatives for seniors.
The board will loan the minibuses to the Rotary Club’s Seniors’ Christmas Party on Nov. 30 and a seniors’ tour of Christmas lights being organized by the Inner Wheel Club for Dec. 11.
Hudbay is sponsoring the lights tour with a $500 gift. The Inner Wheel has offered to donate that money to the school division.
Report cards
With Nov. 12 marking the start of the second quarter at Many Faces Education Centre, it was noted that the school year is officially 25 per cent over.
Superintendent of Schools Blaine Veitch announced that Many Faces and Hapnot Collegiate report cards will be sent home Nov. 17 (today). Elementary school report cards go home a week from today, on Nov. 24.
