Highlights from the latest Creighton School Board meeting, held May 23: Trustees have approved the hiring of several new staff members effective the 2012-13 school year. Noelle Gogol, the current vice-principal, has submitted her resignation as she will be leaving the school division to accept a job in Esterhazy. Jason Straile has been appointed the new vice-principal of Creighton Community School starting next year. Noelle Drimmie has accepted a full-time Grade 1 position created by the retirement of Wanda Cluff, and Katrina Radice has accepted a temporary Grade 1 position from September to December of 2012. In addition, Ian Clark, a local Flin Flon graduate, has accepted a full-time physical education position starting next fall. The board welcomes all new teaching staff and wishes them well in their new positions. Creighton School Division has received funding to offer a Summer Literacy Camp for the next three years. The primary goal of the camp is to help students retain their growth in literacy development during the summer. The division is in the process of hiring staff and finalizing plans for the implementation of the camp. Camp staff will be involved in training and planning activities during the early part of July, and the actual dates for the camp will be July 16-27. Creighton School Division received a total of $8,740 in Co-op equity rebates this past year _ $7,290 in a fuel rebate and $1,459 in a general equity rebate. This additional revenue helps to offset program expenditures. Carol Sutherland, the community school coordinator, and Matt LaCrosse, a parent on the School Community Council, delivered a short presentation outlining the highlights and accomplishments of the Council this past year. Many past activities and events are ongoing. New partnerships this year include 'Cooking with the Youth,' a program where Creighton RCMP officers prepare a meal with a middle-years foods class, and a partnership with CADAC to deliver the First Night Out Celebration. _ Creighton School Division
